NOTICE OF REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS FOR PURCHASE AND REUSE OF SWIPCO OWNED PROPERTY AT 516 MAIN STREET, GRISWOLD, IOWA

Notice is hereby given that Southwest Iowa Planning Council (SWIPCO) intends to dispose of a derelict commercial property located at 516 Main Street, Griswold, Iowa through sale to a responsible party.  The building has come into SWIPCO’s possession through foreclosure.  The SWIPCO policy board has determined that such a sale is in the best interest of the community and that the property is a blighted property.  Therefore, proposals are being sought to purchase and redevelop the site.  Proposals shall be in writing and submitted to SWIPCO by 4:30pm, August 26, 2026, either delivered to 1501 SW 7th St., Atlantic, IA  50022 or via email at john.mccurdy@swipco.org.  Proposals shall be scored on the following criteria:  
1. Experience of the responsible party with renovating similar structures.  2. Cohesiveness between the proposed use and existing uses in the downtown area.  3. A minimum proposed purchase price of $8,308.87.  Proposals will be read aloud at the SWIPCO board meeting at 1:40pm, August 27, 2026, and the winning proposal selected.  SWIPCO reserves the right to accept or reject any proposals.  Closing and possession of the building will take place at the soonest possible date.  Any closing or legal fees associated with the sale shall be the responsibility of the buyer.  Any questions should be directed to SWIPCO Executive Director, John McCurdy, at 712-243-4196.   SWIPCO is an equal opportunity employer, provider, and lender.

Region Wide Drivers:

Southwest Iowa Transit Agency (SWITA) is seeking a part-time drivers in the region for a number of shifts. Applicant must possess or be willing to acquire a commercial driver’s license class C with passenger endorsement (SWITA will assist with ELDT and  drive test), and enjoy working with the public. Starting wage is $17.00 per hour plus IPERS and PTO. Applicant must be able to obtain a CDL Medical Exam and pass a DOT pre-employment drug screen.
